The Catalan Water Partnership receives the Gold Label certificate for excellence in its management

  • 10% of the clusters in all of Europe with the highest certificate of excellence are Catalan
  • The certificate, which has been accessed with the support of ACCIÓ, is one of the most prestigious global awards in the field of clusters, which analyzes indicators such as funding, strategy or the qualification of the team that manages these organizations.

On October 16, the Catalan clusters Catalan Water Partnership, Packaging ClusterMODACCBeauty Cluster BarcelonaFEMAC and Secpho received the Gold Label certificate from the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA). It is one of the most prestigious awards in the world in the field of clusters that certifies the excellence in the management of these organizations which have been accessed with the support of ACCIÓ, the agency for competitiveness of the company of the Department of Business and Knowledge.

The virtual event was chaired by the Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Hon. Ramon Tremosa, who reaffirmed the important role of agents of change such as clusters, especially in a context such as the current one, starring in the health and economic crisis. The entities have accompanied the partner companies on the path to recovery and business opportunities, with the generation of shared value.

The session was also attended by the director of ESCA, Helmut Kergel; the CEO of ACCIÓ, Joan Romero; Joan Martí, ACCIÓ’s Cluster Development Director; and the Clusters Managers of the award-winning organizations.

To receive Gold Label accreditation, 30 indicators of the clusters related to financing, governance, strategy, composition (whether there are multinationals, SMEs, startups, universities or technology centers in the organization) or the rating of the team that manages it. Having this certificate allows clusters to increase their visibility and international positioning, as well as access to new meeting points with other leading European clusters to carry out joint projects and improvement processes.

The Gold Label is awarded by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA), a Berlin-based association that brings together more than 200 cluster experts and manages certification processes and was born out of the EuropeanClusterExcellence Initiative ( ECEI), an initiative promoted in 2009 by the European Commission.
